The Reading Room
The Reading Room is one of 113 Chancery Lane’s most impressive and versatile event spaces. Ideal for conferences, seminars, award ceremonies, private dining, canapé receptions and wedding celebrations, it provides an elegant setting for a wide variety of events.
Located on the ground floor, the room combines historic character with modern functionality. A soaring vaulted ceiling, abundant natural daylight, a striking gilded gallery and rows of leather-bound books create a distinctive backdrop, while fixed speakers, a built-in PA system and a wedding licence ensure the space is equally suited to corporate events and special occasions.
Adding to its architectural significance, the fireplace frieze was carved by renowned sculptor Gilbert Bayes, best known for creating the iconic Queen of Time clock above the main entrance to Selfridges, further enhancing the room’s unique heritage.
